Sir TJ. There has been some troubling news being brought to my attention.

[It's a day later and absurdly early in the morning, but nevertheless TJ does get back to him.]

[Luckily, time is essentially meaningless to Lautrec. Even so, he's a bit groggy. Oh right, he called TJ, didn't he?]

Mmh. The Weaponsmith has brought to my attention that there is some tension.

[He doesn't want to say 'Ornifex is really mad about Maka', just in case, you know?]

She said there is a 'Maka' who wishes her ill? I intend to get some clarification before we worry. Apparently you know of this person?

Wait, Maka? As in Maka Albarn?

[TJ's brows drew low, suddenly worried.]

What the hell sort of beef would those two have? She's a kid for pete's sake.

[A young girl. Well, that was a start. Though it did make him question some things.]

Mmmh, I didn't hear of the details. I simply wished to know more about this 'Maka' so that I may grow to understand the situation more thoroughly.

The crow is both of our allies, and I simply wish to see the situation rectified.

[TJ rubbed at the back of his neck, wholly surprised. It was obvious from his voice that he didn't expect this from these two, of all the shady figures he knew.]

I'll... I'll talk to her. Shit. Did Ornifex say somethin', or...?

[The bird could occasionally fail in terms of tact.]

[Hm. Not sure that was the intended effect, but he could probably work with it.]

Apparently she took offense to something Ornifex had mentioned, and now she is worried for her safety.

Although I am not aware of the nature of their disagreement, I do wish to stress how delicate this situation is, and should you speak with this young girl, please refrain from mentioning my own involvement.

[What Ornifex lacked in tact, Lautrec made up for in talking around an issue, thankfully for them.]

I simply wish to observe for now, but you should be aware that there are those who would defend the weaponsmith if this should come to a head, but nobody here wishes for violence.

[Hey, TJ knew a lot of weirdos in this joint. He just never expected this from these two weirdos.]

I mean, I'm with you, man. N' I'll talk to her. I guess I just... gotta know what happened, first.

But I'll talk to her. Promise. [He heaved a breath, sounding awkward.] Uh, but can I ask why you came to me? I mean, I know both of 'em, but I ain't exactly that persuasive.

[Lautrec actually laughed at that. Poor TJ. All Lautrec had needed was a description in case he needed to go on a headhunt and now this.]

Well, Ornifex does not know who Maka is, what she looks like, or what she is capable of. And neither do I. But the crow demon mentioned that you seemed to know her, so I wanted to ask you for more information about the girl.

I mean, I'm sure that she knows what Ornifex would look like, right?

... It ain't exactly hard to miss her, man. [Which worried him, admittedly.] Can I ask you a favor?

It's true. That's why I fear for her. [Same wavelengths here.] She and I have no idea what this Maka looks like though.

You may ask, though I will not make any promises I cannot keep, Sir TJ.

[Well, that's about what he expected.]

If Ornifex could just... avoid her, until this blows over. She's a teenager, short blond hair, doesn't speak. Has a tattoo of a piano on her back.

I just don't think any good'll come of them hurtin' each other.

[Well he agrees at least at that. Ornifex was not a fighter and them hurting each other would just end in a dead weaponsmith. But now Lautrec knew what he was looking for, and so... Well, if there was a ring in it for him, he would do whatever was necessary.]

Yes, I am hoping that it does not need to resort to violence. You are correct in that no good could come of it, just needless bloodshed.

Whew. Okay, cool. Glad you're on my team, dude. [TJ paused, wrinkling his nose for a moment.] Er, Sir Dude.

...Dude...?

Er. Ah, yes. A knight is a defender, not a common soldier. We are meant to keep the peace, are we not?

[Alright Lautrec, let's not lay it on too thick here.]

Ah, uh, that's just... a term of endearment. Y'know, from my kingdom.

[That checked out.]

N' yeah, man. I'm all about peace. Peace just ain't all about me.

Ah. I see, 'Dude'.

[Oh no modern slang. Please. Now he is going to use it on anyone that comes from a similar era to TJ and maybe some other people. Thank you for this opportunity.]

It's hard to find peace in this place, and harder still for those who do their best to uphold it. Stay strong, stay vigilant. We cannot afford not to be.
